Dr. Hong-Gam Le is a board-certified ophthalmologist and retina specialist with advanced fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery. Her passion for ophthalmology took root in her undergraduate studies at Harvard University, where she concentrated in Neurobiology and graduated with honors. She earned her medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School, graduating with Distinction in Research. After completing residency in ophthalmology at Northwestern University, Dr. Le then pursued a two-year fellowship at the University of Utah’s Moran Eye Center, where she specialized in diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous.
Dr. Le’s clinical expertise includes age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, retinal vein and artery occlusions, epiretinal membrane, macular hole, retinal tear, retinal detachment, and complications after cataract surgery. She performs intravitreal injection, laser photocoagulation, cryotherapy, and vitrectomy to manage these conditions.
Dr. Le is affiliated with major health care systems in Chicagoland including Advocate Health Care, Northwestern Medicine, Endeavor Health, and Ascension Health Care. She is on hospital staff at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Advocate Condell Medical Center, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Northwestern Huntley Hospital, Endeavor Health Swedish Hospital, Ascension Saint Alexius Medical Center, and Ascension St Joseph Chicago Hospital. Dr. Le is bilingual with fluency in English and Vietnamese. She is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based and timely care to all patients. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, cooking and spending time with her husband and daughter.
